Weekend in Krakow

Meeting with the former Polish capital, the cradle of culture and tradition. One of the most visited Polish cities, because of the numerous monuments and a rich offer of cultural events. The picturesque and lively. Yearlong interesting offer for tourists from around the world. Starting point in the Polish Tatra Mountains, to the Auschwitz-Birkenau in Oswiecim, Wadowice, birthplace of Pope John Paul II and in Pieniny Mountains of their main attraction, the rafting on the the Dunajec river.



Day 1 Thursday

Arrival in Krakow. Hotel accommodation and dinner in the Old Town.


Day 2 Friday

Guided city tour. Royal Road, Market Square, Cloth Hall, the Altar of Veit Stoss in St. Mary's Church, the oldest part of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Maius, Franciscan Church, the Cathedral and Wawel Royal Castle. In the afternoon tour of the former Jewish district of Kazimierz and Schindler's Factory Museum illustrating the period of World War II and German occupation in Krakow. Dinner with klezmer music in a restaurant in Kazimierz.


Day 3 Saturday

Check out one of the proposed trip is:

  • to Auschwitz-Birkenau.
  • to the shrine in Kalwaria and Wadowice, the birthplace of John Paul II
  • Zakopane - with a tour of the city, the Tatra Museum, train trip or to Gubalowka, walking tour into Koscieliska or Chocholowska Valleys. On the way back visit a typical village in Podhale - Chocholow and the highlanders sanctuary in Ludzmierz.
  • to the historic church in Debno Podhalanskie (on UNESCO list) and to Sromowce the Rafting on the Dunajec (from May to October).

Day 4 Sunday

Trip to Wieliczka and sightseeing tourist route in the Salt Mine (UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978). After sightseeing coach drive back to Krakow.

The purpose may be castles in Debno and Wisnicz, Salt Mine in Bochnia, National Museum, Historical Museum of Krakow with its branches, Ojcow National Park with the castle in Pieskowa Rock and King Lokietek Cave, Nowa Huta, an example of socialist-realist architecture and places with cultivation history of 50 years of the twentieth century, which you can visit the old coach, "cucumber" or old "trabis", cars made in the past in eastern Germany, now defunct GDR state. In the summer you can enjoy the cruise ships on the Vistula River, or enjoy the city of gondolas floating balloon above the city.
